Skandagiri is located approximately 70 km from Bangalore and just 3 km from Chikkabalpur. It is off International Kempegowda Airport road.
Skandagiri is a perfect place for one day outing with family and friends. One can visit Nandi hills too which is 8 km away from Skandagiri. It is better to go on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and also to hire a guide to reach the peak. People often visit to witness sunrise here.
How to reach
There are regular BMTC buses from Bangalore to Chikkabalapur. In order to reach Skandagiri, proceed directly to Kalawara village via Sir M Visveswaraya's birth place (Muddenahalli).
The best time to trek is during winter season. The top of the hill is often enclosed in a blanket of mist and the best place to relax. One has to carry water bottles and food while trekking since you do not find anything much at the top.
